Carisbrooke is very proud of their green fingered success - known to all here as Kirra. Kirra and her family bought African sack gardens to Carisbrooke and not content with working her magic at school with her class, Kirra also worked on her own African Sack Garden at home and won the African Sack Garden competition run by the charity Send a Cow.

The competition involved growing a garden within a sack, using organic seeds and plants, mainly growing edible produce, such as tomatoes.
Kirra was presented with her certificate and award at the Shepton Mallet Amateur Gardening Show by organic specialist and author Bob Flowerdew. Kirra impressed the judges when she told them in her application that she grew tomatoes and basil because she liked to eat them on her crackers with her cheese!
