Walk the Wight update

The latest total is the school has raised over £2000, well done, what an achievement!

The theme for the Walk as 'wear something beginning with W' so this could be white, wellies, weird or wonderful.

We will update you with the final total when all the money has come into the school after the holiday.

Walk the Wight

Today we completed our 25th day of the Schools Walk the Wight, we were joined by parents in the afternoon for the final laps of the playground. All three playgrounds were a mass of children and adults completing laps. At the end of the laps there was a school congo with all the children and adults dancing round the upper playground. Mrs Noon thanked everybody and told us all that so far the school had raised £1000.00 for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, this will hopefully increase more children bring in their sponsor money following Sunday's main Walk the Wight. The County Press Photographer came along so look out for a report in The Isle of Wight County Press. Many photos were taken so come back to the blog next week when the photos will be posted. Well done to everybody involved and we will let you know what the total is when all the monies have been collected.

Children in Need

 Throughout the school children brought in donationsand we raised  £165.47, below are some of the children in Octpus Class counting the coins. Thank you everybodythat helped raise the money.

The Blog Returns

Hello to everybody.

We have had a bit of break from placing articles but hopefully normal service should return!

We are aiming to place more on the blog so you can see what we have been up to in school.

Egypain topic

Last Wednesday Mrs Colling's class did some art with Mr T and Mrs A. we made some sarcophagus . we were all very exited because we liked the topic of Egyptians. We made our sarcophagus from a cardboard template and cut them out. once we had made our sarcophagus we decorated them with our names in Egyptian writing called hieroglyphics.

Spring must be here! - allottment club has started!

Howling winds and still the staff, parents and children of allottment club opened the doors to the shed on Friday and begun the hard work needed every Spring to clear the beds and prepare them ready to plant the new vegetables.

Not a sign of Spring but the wet weather does not deter Mrs Noon or Mrs Price  from pulling up their hoods and beginning to round up the troops!

Can't wait for those lovely fresh vegetables again!

5 star award for Carisbrooke's Kitchen!

Fantastic news - Carisbrooke Kitchen has been awarded 5 stars for their outstanding service.  This means we as a school receive excellent food, the kitchen is clean and the service is top rate.  For this our thanks go to Heather and Pat who look after our kitchens and to all the MSA's who support them be ensuring we receive a 5 star lunchtime every single day of the week.

As one child asked today "What's for lunch tomorrow Heather, I can't wait" and Heather said "Ask your mum it is the weekend!"  They really love their food!

 

The Lantern Parade

On the 15th December children from Carisbrooke took part in a lantern carnival. the lanterns were made by parents and children in the family room. We all met up at Matalan's car park and the carnival started at 7:30pm. We walked from Matalan all the way through the town finishing at quay street. There were about 20 people and 15 lanterns.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody at Carisbrooke - staff, governors, children, parents and others within the Carisbrooke family a very happy new year for 2008.

On behalf of all the staff at Carisbrooke I thank all the childrens and parents for all their lovely cards and presents  we received.

Successful Learning

All across the school people have been at Successful Learning. Our teachers have been making puzzle pieces and labelling them and then asked the children "what does it mean to be a successful learner?" They then use our explanations to help build up the learning puzzle.

The teachers use WALT (which means, What Are we Learning Today) and WILF (which means; What I'm Looking For?) to tell the children what they need to achieve and how to do it. We work on each puzzle piece one by one.
